Wow. You would think I read a different book compared to the other reviews! I accidentally purchased this via Amazon Kindle and thought, "What the heck." I read it while traveling across the US. I do think it had some interesting moments, but overall I had to force myself to finish the book. The writing didn't engage me. I think that part of this was the the author's style. His repeated descriptions of the female nurse had me rolling my eyes. Patronizing. And, the editing. There were repeated phrases/descriptors of the two main characters that just didn't read well.I didn't find his writing of the Nurse strong. He made her seem weak and impressionable. The romance aspect of their relationship seemed so forced and the way it was written made me sigh out loud in the "Oh, for Pete's sake manner." I was disappointed with the book and I had a long layover and had to find something to do!
My criticisms aside, the interesting aspect to me--the future. Living in a controlled society where the government designates what consitutes food/nourishment, clothing, culture, jobs, and relationships. This was the part that kept me the most engaged.

One reviewer complained about the CONSTANT descriptions and references to how hot and sexy the nurse guide was. I concur. This was a cheesy romance novel. The science fiction was just lame and the pat little happy ending was anticlimactic. If you like cheesy sex novels you will love this. If you like SciFi find something else.
Very enjoyable read, well written, and it is better than watching television with all the stupid commercials. I will buy more of this authors books in future.
